How my gullibility lead to my success

I have to confess, I am the biggest sucker.
Or at least I used to be.
Especially when it came to a good get rich quick scheme.
I mean who wouldn’t want instant wealth…
passive income…
material success at a young age.
By the time I’d turned 25,
I’d blown through thousands of dollars
of my money and my parents money
on just about every get rich quick scheme
I’d come across.
You name it, I tried it.
And failed spectacularly!
Around this time a friend introduced me to the crypto world.
At first I was skeptical,
but after reading story after story
of ordinary people making insane profits,
I soon became hooked….
I had found my new obsession…
I was convinced.
All I had to do was hit big on one coin,
and my life would change forever.
Unfortunately, my plan wasn’t very sophisticated.
I pretty much threw money at any coin
I thought had potential.
And by potential I mean the hyped up coins
I read about in online forums.
Did I always lose money?
No.
But, whatever small wins I got
would just get rolled into the next hot coin
until it eventually went bust.
I had no clue about how block chain worked.
And I clearly had no long term strategy.
I was blowing through money
just as fast as I could make it.
My low point came one memorable,
October weekend.
I stared at my checking account balance
and realized I couldn’t pay rent.
That’s when I made a decision
If I was going to succeed at this stuff,
I needed to get a basic understanding of how it worked.
More importantly…
I needed a strategy.
But most importantly I needed a mentor.
Someone who was where I wanted to be…
Someone who could help me develop a strategy.
After a few days of searching online,
I found my crypto coaching and scheduled
my free consultation to see if it was for me.
In my thirty minute zoom meeting with
my representative Brad, he patiently
answered all of my questions
and I told him about my experiences
with buying crypto so far.
Brad explained many new clients
had similar experiences
trying to do it on their own.
With my crypto coaching,
Clients are taught the fundamentals
of block chain without having to learn
a bunch of unnecessary technical terms.
Only the essentials.
More importantly,
we’re taught the same strategies
used by successful crypto investors,
and were now mentoring students
in the program.
Answering questions…
Making sure students understood
the methods and terms being taught.
Using a fresh line of credit,
I decided to go all in
and buy the program.
I resolved
not to spend another dime on crypto
until I completely understood
the concepts and strategies taught.
I was willing to do
whatever it took.
Failure was not an option.
Over the next couple of weeks,
I poured myself into the material.
Reading and re-reading
the concepts until they sunk in…
and when they didn’t,
my mentor John was
quick to respond to my emails.
John also quizzed me over the material
in our weekly zoom meetings
to make sure I was getting it.
However, learning investment
strategies and identifying traits of
up and coming coins proved
even more challenging.
Often
I had more questions than answers.
Fortunately, John was steadfast
in answering my questions
in a way that I could understand.
I can honestly say that
it was his
patience, understanding and encouragement
that helped propel me through the course.
And before long,
I was ready to apply what I’d learned.
No more
throwing money at wild hunches….
risking rent money on “sure things”
that were nothing more that internet rumors.
I felt like I’d finally done my homework.
Armed with this newfound knowledge,
I was ready for my life to change.
I wish I could tell you
it happened overnight…
And could show you pictures of me
standing in front of my mansion
with newly purchased sports cars
or me boarding my own private jet.
But success is rarely that simple.
Putting the strategies to work
proved to be a steep learning curve,
but I stuck it out
and continued using them faithfully.
And as I got better at it,
my wins started getting more consistent.
Profits started slowly trickling in.
For the first time in my life,
I had become patient.
I resisted the urge to go all in.
At this point it was more important
to continue sharpening my skills.
Soon enough my patience was rewarded
and my wins got bigger.
Suddenly, my rent was paid for…
A few trades later…
I paid off a credit card…
Then another…
Car payments, gone.
Finally one bright morning,
it happened.
I quit my job!
As I walked out of my office building
for the last time, I realized it had
been eight full months since I blew
rent money on some sketchy coins.
I had achieved a kind of freedom
I once thought was impossible.
And to think, it all started
because of my gullibility,
or as I now call it,
my willingness to take chances.George
